Marden Station needs your help.

South Eastern Railways are asking for nominations for Railway Stations to benefit from £300m government cash funding to enhance step-free access and this could mean a lift if Marden is successful.

As a number of employees use Marden station I am asking if you could circulate to gain their support and nominate Marden at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/southeasternrailway.

Marden Parish Council is also arranging a photoshoot at Marden station on Thursday 27th September at 5pm for anyone to come along especially if they have experienced problems with gaining access to the opposite platform.

Many thanks

Pattenden Vets Social Event

On Monday 29th October the Marden Business Forum were delighted to visit a new member of our business community & already highly valued addition to the Marden Community as a whole.

Pattenden Veterinary Clinic is a state of the art practice, thanks in no small way to their close working relationship with neighbors Burtons Medical Equipment Ltd. – the UK’s largest supplier of Veterinary Equipment.

David Burton was in attendance, with his son Matt, to support Lara Hummel, Tori Jordan & Janet Clark proudly showing the gleaming facility to a large group of forum members.

Janet is the practice’s Administrator whilst Lara and Tori are your new friendly practicing Vets. All three have enjoyed an established working relationship for several years before deciding to set up an Independent practice in Marden.

Since opening in May this year the practice already boasts nearly 600 clients, mainly dealing with dogs and cats but a few other household pets and chickens along the way.

We wish Lara, Tori and Janet all the best for a long and successful future and thank them wholeheartedly for hosting a highly enjoyable & social event.

During the MBF’s Event at Pattenden Vetinary Clinic we were treated to a short talk by Bridget Wood on Medical Detection Dogs.

How amazing is the work being done by them to save lives and also the research that is trying to artificially mimic the “nose” to detect various cancers.

Thank you Bridget.

If anyone would like to contact Bridget to either donate to her new puppy or just to learn more about this incredible charity, please email her: Bridgetwood2011@gmail.com

Certificate of Excellence

Fair View Bed & Breakfast have been awarded a Certificate of Excellence for 2018!

Congratulations from all in the MBF for this wonderful achievement.

Marden in Bloom

The following companies have generously sponsored Marden in Bloom this year:

These donations help to keep the Marden in Bloom project going and we will be use by replacing the village planters with plants in the Autumn
when we will advertise the sponsors, buying more bulbs to plant in open spaces and for another project next year such as the School Project.

Can we also thank the Business Forum for distributing our leaflet with the new Business Directory.

With very many thanks.

Chairman of Marden in Bloom

Marden Neighbourhood Plan

We have been asked to circulate the news that the Neighbourhood Plan is now complete and encourage everyone to consult it.
The full plan is available at the Parish Council Offices at the Memorial Hall, the Library, the Medical Centre and various other venues in the village.
It is also available on line via
www.mardenkent-pc.gov.uk
There are two Consultation Open sessions on 13th July between 6pm and 8pm and Saturday 14th July between 9am and 12noon in the John Banks Hall at Marden Memorial Hall.
The Steering Group would be grateful to receive your views to ensure the plan represents the best interests of Marden.

Marden Resident

The MBF have received this letter, from a resident in Lime Tree Close, can any Member enlighten us?

During the last three years we have lived here, about this time of year, just when you can have the windows fully open, someone/company burns something that smells like plastic.
This is always done around 2am and lasts for a couple of hours. Difficult to point a finger at anyone but it would seem reasonable to suppose that it is coming from the industrial area in Pattenden Lane.
Could I ask you to contact your members and either try to establish who is doing this or at least make them aware of the environmental effects this has?

If you can help, please contact committee@mardenbusinessforum.com

Marden Childrens Centre

Hello, My name is Kasha and I am the new Manager of Marden Children Centre at Goudhurst Road.

Cleaning Services

Is there any one in the forum that undertakes cleaning services?
On behalf of the Marden Cricket, Hockey and Tennis Club I have been tasked with getting contractors to clean the temporary facilities and showers etc, this will expand into the weekly cleaning of the proposed new building when it is finished.

Please email me direct if this is something you are interested in,
Kind regards,
