Marden History Group – Victim of our own success

As can be seen by visiting the Marden History Group website, the Marden Heritage Centre has landed national awards for the work done by our volunteers but, as more and more important artefacts and documents are discovered and donated by local residents, storage space inevitably becomes a major problem.

Although aware that major space saving could be achieved by digitalising our many thousands of documents, this expensive exercise has been beyond the group’s meagre financial resources. However, as part of their Centenary Celebrations Project, Paddock Wood Lions have made the generous donation of £200, specifically to launch the Marden History Group’s fund raising appeal. Marden businesses have also chipped in towards the the total of £1,500 needed.
If any other Forum members would like to contribute, this would enable digitalisation to be undertaken as soon as possible.

Attached is a photo of the presentation of the £200 cheque by Paddock Wood Lion, Rod Easter, to Eunice Doswell, Vice Chair of Marden History Group.
